FAA Practical Test Standards

  • FAA Practical Test Standards Documents This is a PDF document
When students take a Checkride (Practical Test) for a new Pilot Certificate or Rating, the examiner does not randomly select the tasks they are asked to perform. The tasks are clearly defined in the appropriate FAA Practical Test Standards (PTS) book. The PTS is an agreement between the student, their examiner and the FAA on exactly what they can be tested on and the criteria the examiner will use to determine if they meet the standard. At the linked page you will find the current PTS books for the most common Certificates and Ratings.
